Chopin Lives! Workshops

Picture

Every other year, when there is no competition, Chopin Society of Houston organizes an event that we call “Chopin Lives!” Workshop. The purpose of this endeavor is purely pedagogical and that is why all activities are designed to learn more about Chopin.

Master classes offer a chance for young pianists to meet outstanding music personalities, often pianists of Polish origin, and benefit from hearing their input on the interpretation of Chopin’s music. Workshops widen students horizons on Chopin’s style, repertoire, and inspire to prepare for the next competition and learn new music.

Just as competitions offer venues where students can showcase their talents and hard work, workshops teach about history, style and Chopin as a living, loving, suffering man, who expressed all this in his own beautiful way.

We organize games, poetry contests, and essay contests. Our students often choose Chopin as their favorite personality and Poland as their country of interest in school projects. Here in Texas, Chopin is heard, loved, and very well known.
