Adult Amateur Festivals

Picture
Background
The Chopin Society of Houston organizes Chopin Festivals for Adult Amateurs every other year.

The adult amateur pianists are a profound inspiration for younger students proving that piano playing is a lifetime adventure with no limit on age or time. It gives them a long term goal, that whatever they choose to do in their life, or study in college there will be time to come, to go back to the piano, practice and prepare for a meaningful event. Somebody very wise once said that we are young as long as we learn.

The Adult Amateur Festivals are the chance for anyone who loves music, piano and Chopin to stay young forever.

Schedule
The Festival is held every two years.

Requirements
The competition is open to non-professional pianists over the age 27. The participant must not have a degree in music or work as a professional musician.

Participants must choose one required piece and a maximum time limit. Only original versions are accepted - no transcriptions, no arrangements.

Awards
A panel of invited judges provides notes on the performances and may offer master classes.
