Chopin Festival is organized by Chopin Society of Houston and will take place Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Houston Community College Town and Country campus in Houston, Texas. It is open to pre-college piano students.

    Application Information

    Master classes will be available depending upon the number of applicants for the Adult Competition. The master classes will be held by:

  • Jose Feghali
  • Andrey Ponochevny
  • Clive Swansbourne

    Any original composition of Fryderyk Chopin may be submitted. If several shorter pieces are selected, they should not exceed the time limit of 7 minutes. All works must be performed by memory. No changes or substitutions will be accepted. Please note: Only original versions will be accepted – No transcriptions – No arrangements!

    Applicants and registration fees must be received by Friday, October 10, 2008. Make copies of the form for each participating student. Information on application form must by typed or printed in block letters. A non-refundable fee must accompany each application as follows:

  • $30 for a recital performance entry
  • $60 for a master class
  • $90 for both a master class and recital performance

    Teachers will be notified times of their students immediately after closing the list of applicants. This list will be published on our website at www.chopinsocietyofhouston.org.

    All performers participating in the recital are expected to wear appropriate attire to ensure a proper atmosphere. Chopin Society of Houston reserves the right to record all performances during the event for use at its own discretion. By signing the application form the parent/ guardian renounces all rights and fees.
